Packaging—the face of a brand. And, a prime culprit in crimes against the environment. Increasingly, though, packaging is a prime source of innovation as business looks for ways to lessen the environmental impact of its packages—and build brand equity.
Agenda: 
The following topics will be covered in this course: 1.) Making Packaging More Sustainable – a look at the 5 R's of managing packaging waste: reduce, reuse, recycle, recover, and residual management (disposal). 2.) Bio-Based Materials: Adding Value to Packaging – waste management processes produce bio-materials, energy, and other byproducts that can be integrated into a packaging system to reduce environmental impacts even further. 3.) The Environmental Footprint of Packaging – using Life Cycle Analysis to understand which improvements to packaging make the most sense, from a business and an environmental standpoint. 4.) Key Environmental Performance Indicators – cutting through the clutter of indicators to focus on key indicators…the ones that help determine the environmental performance of packaging systems.
