mass customisation

Ett flervalsystem för kundanpassning av textila produkter

The objective of this paper is to develop a model for a customer- “multiple choices” design system.
During the last 20 years there has been a dramatic technical development in the production of flat knitted fashion garments. This has made it possible to rationalize design and production of knitted products in a way that it’s possible to make a knitted garment ready made directly in the knitting machine, with a minimum of after coming processes. Starting point is a business model with the knitting machines located in the store. The customer takes an active part in the design process and garments are customized to fulfill actual demand. lĂ€s mer »

With an increasing amount of product variants, demands are pressing for a line-side materials supply system that can satisfy the requirements of the production and at the same time maintain low buffer levels and contribute to short assembly stations.
Efficient material flows are crucial for assembly of mass customised products at a paced multi-model assembly line. With an increasing amount of product variants, demands are pressing for a line-side materials supply system that can satisfy the requirements of the production and at the same time maintain low buffer levels and contribute to short assembly stations. This paper stresses the importance of choosing appropriate methods of line-side materials supply and of having a proficient decision support tool to facilitate this. - Robin Hanson and Mats Johansson
