Last month, CFO magazine and REL (a division of Hackett Group) published their annual analysis of working capital changes in approximately 1000 US publicly traded companies. That includes the inventory component of working capital, or Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO).

"This paper describes some of the results obtained from an applied research project carried out in close cooperation with Volvo Parts Corporation. The findings we present illustrate the potential benefits of introducing coordinated control of spare part inventories into Volvo Parts’ distribution system in Australia.
